Wales 2013

Here are some photos recording my walks and other memorable moments with Ruby on our recent holiday in Wales.
We walked on coastal paths, river banks, lanes, farmland, mountains etc etc. A total of 102 miles.
We saw Ospreys, lots of sea birds, ravens but no otters although we did see lots of otter footprints.
The last photo is a very wet Ruby in the back of Jim's car after our last walk. I think she knew that was the end of our holiday.
Benfleet is going to be very boring after our adventures in Wales!!

Marsh Baldon Oxfordshire

Early starts were the order of the day on this trip. It seems that the farmers are leaving a wide strip between the crops and hedges which makes walking very easy. We came across a significant barn fire which was pretty spectacular. Paths through the fields had been maintained and often all that could be seen of Ruby was her tail. A very beautiful part of the country.

It starts here

Having just started to read The Old Ways by Robert Macfarlane I felt inspired to record my own ramblings in the company of Ruby Tuesday.
A major lifestyle change for me has been the arrival of a dog, Barnaby for a short while then Ruby Tuesday, a black labrador bitch. Now that she is fully grown Ruby is able to undertake long walks and as a result of our travels in The Rubesmobile we have started to walk our own paths and byways.
I am experiencing enormous pleasure as a result of our ramblings and would like to share our adventures with anyone who might want to join us as we explore the paths and byways of our lovely countryside.
The two photos show Ruby when she was about 10 weeks old and as she is now (18 months old) ready to head off into a field of rapeseed.
